ARTHUR SMITH SINGS LEONARD COHEN

This show, which deals with despair, darkness and dementia, provides one of the funniest, most thoughtful and uplifting evenings you can imagine.

His rendition of the songs is hugely enhanced by the fabulous Smithereens: Kirsty Newton, Carrie Marx and Ali Day and by the show’s director/ script adviser, Kevin Day.

It had sell out 4 star runs at The Pleasance in Edinburgh in 2013 and 2014, an equally successful London run at London’s Soho Theatre and was transmitted on Radio 4 last year.

You need not be a Cohen-lover to enjoy this tuneful, poetic piece, which is shot through with sharp one-liners and brilliant surprises.

Arthur Smith has been a comedian since the early 80s and has also written stage plays such as An Evening with Gary Lineker and The Live Bed Show, both of which transferred to the West End. His autobiography, My Name Is Daphne Fairfax, was published to critical acclaim in 2009. Arthur is a regular presenter on BBC Radio 4 and 4 Extra, appears in the series Grumpy Old Men and the One Show and tours the country with his stand up. In 2008 he won the Edinburgh Festival Spirit of the Fringe Award.

‘Touching, uplifting and very funny.’ **** Evening Standard
‘A comical and musical triumph.’ **** Independent
‘Painfully Funny’ The Sunday Times
